Motionexa Labs is an independent generative engine optimization (GEO) studio. We audit and improve how often early-stage SaaS and cybersecurity companies are cited by ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude and Google AI Overviews — and we publish our working notes as we go.
Why this exists
Somewhere in 2024–25, the buyer's first question stopped going to a search box and started going to a chat window. Forrester's 2026 study of 18,000 buyers found 94% of B2B buyers used an LLM during purchase research; G2's 2026 survey found 51% now start vendor research in an AI chatbot. The answer those tools give contains three to five names. There is no page two.
For a funded startup that's an existential detail: you can have a beautiful product, a fresh round, and a category where the machines recommend your competitors by name every single day. Most founders discover this by accident. We built a practice around discovering it on purpose — with transcripts, scorecards and fix plans instead of vibes.
Why "field notes"
GEO is young and full of confident nonsense. Our answer to that is to work like a field researcher: log what the engines actually said, date it, trace why, change one input, re-run the identical prompt, and write down the delta. Everything we publish on this site follows that discipline — and every chart in our sample audit is clearly marked as a demonstration specimen, never passed off as a client result we haven't earned yet.

Who's behind the desk
Motionexa Labs is founder-operated — research, audits and client calls are run by the same person who signs this page, with specialist contractors for content production during sprints. Small is the point: you brief the person doing the work, and your prompt logs aren't handed to an account manager three layers away. Published research is credited to the Motionexa Research Desk, the lab's editorial byline.
